As you have heard, we are getting married this year on September 26, to finally become Mr. and Mrs. Ispharazi. If you want a little backstory you can read a blurb about how our union began back in 2008 at— zainzahra2020.minted.us —our wedding website.
As the big date approaches, we are becoming increasingly aware of the need for caution due to the ongoing spread of the COVID-19 virus. Our first action a couple of months ago was to reduce the number of invitees, then as the cases of the virus continued to rise, we changed our venue as well. Now, on the cusp of August with conditions still seeming quite unstable, we have decided to reduce the size of the wedding even more, by only having our immediate families physically present at the ceremony while the rest will have the option to tune in virtually via video conference.
We maintain our vision of this wedding as a meeting of rivers coming together to pour into the ocean—people from many different cultures, denominations, and lifepaths coming together to celebrate. Each family or individual represents a key influence in our lives and development, providing an underlying current of love that moves us forward in a vast and complicated world. In this spirit, we send invitations to each of you, as a symbol of how we’d want you in proximity during important transitions such as this one.
We feel that this is the right time for us to move forward with a marital ceremony to open the door to many other experiences we want to share as a couple in the coming decade. We’re committing to each other for the long-run, so there will be—God willing—many anniversaries to be celebrated with everyone in the coming years.
